BioJVA or “Joint Vibration Analysis” is a quick, non-invasive method for objectively evaluating the Temporomandibular Joints. Much like the way dentists evaluate the wear on the teeth, JVA enables the dentist to assess the health of the jaw joint. BioJVA Joint Vibration Analysis is based on simple principles of motion and friction. When smooth surfaces rub together, they create little friction and little vibration. If these surfaces become rough and rub together, then friction and vibration are created.
The BioJVA analyses vibrations of the temporomandibular joints and helps the clinician distinguish among various TM disorders.
Joint Vibration Analysis, a device enabling the registering of different vibrations, arising in the joint when in moving. Their intensity, duration, frequency and profile are the objective characteristics of different pathologic processes in the temporomandibular joint.
The system uses small, highly sensitive accelerometers that are placed over the joints to record even the slightest vibrations.
Different disorders produce different vibration patterns or “signatures”. It analyses the characteristics of the signals to identify these patterns. This short, non-invasive process helps diagnose joint problems and the appropriate treatment options. JVA is designed to be recorded by trained staff in less than 2 minutes, and interpreted by the clinician.
BioJVA is a diagnostic aid used to measure how the patient’s joints are functioning before starting any case that repositions the mandible. In less than 5 minutes, your team can provide a highly accurate, quantitative test analysing the stability and function of the Temporomandibular Joint.
